What are some Italian tourist sites? What are some of the historical important events involving Italy? What is America's relationship with Italy? What happen to the Ancient Roman Empire? Students will understand: Students will understand the basic demographic information about Italy. Students will understand the basic ideas behind the government of Italy. Students will understand the role that America plays in that area and the history of America and Italy. Students will understand the culture of Italy and the historical importance of Italy. Students will understand what the different tourist sites of Italy are and why they are so famous. SWBAT demonstrate their knowledge of Italy by creating short writing samples about the countries. SWBAT explain what the Vatican is and why it's in Italy. SWBAT analyze America's role with Italy and predict the future relationship with them. SWBAT understand old vocabulary and apply those words to different class activities. SWBAT to explain what the different tourist sites in Italy are and why people like them so much. SWBAT understand the different cultural traits of Italy over thousands of years of history. STAGE II – ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE PERFORMANCE TASK: Students will take notes on Italy. Graphic organizers will be used to categorize the facts about Italy. The goal of this lesson is to have a topic that interests the students enough to put good effort forth in developing summarizing skills and writing skills. Class participation will also be assessed. A word-wall list will be reviewed. Short films on Italy will be shown. Valentine Day readings will be completed and summarized.
