STAGE I – DESIRED RESULTS
LESSON TOPIC:Gas Laws
BIG IDEAS:
(Content standards, assessment anchors, eligible content) objectives, and skill
focus)
Changes in matter are accompanied by changes in energy.
UNDERSTANDING GOALS (CONCEPTS):
ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: How are changes in matter are
accompanied by changes in energy.
Students will understand: 1. Use of gas laws to predict pressures, volumes,
temperatures, and amounts of gas.
VOCABULARY: Pressure, force, barometer, standard
temperature and pressure (STP), partial pressure, absolute
zero, effusion, diffusion
STUDENT OBJECTIVES (COMPETENCIES/OUTCOMES):
Students will be able to:
identify gas variables (P, T, n, V, R)
- Convert between C and K, grams and Moles and all the
pressure units
- define STP and absolute zero
- define and apply Boyle, Charles, Gay-Lussac, Ideal, and
combined gas laws
- define and apply Dalton’s Law of Partial Pressures
- describe and apply Grahams Law
