About Brightspace platform requirements
The listed platform requirements apply to the following:
 D2L Learning Environment 10.5+
 D2L ePortfolio 10.5+
 D2L Learning Repository 10.5+
The content in this guide is applicable to the most recent version of the Brightspace platform unless otherwise noted.
Course Import and Course Conversion Support
You can import course content from supported learning management systems (LMS) and content providers into
Brightspace. D2L recommends working with your site administration or D2L Account Manager when importing content
from another LMS.
You can also convert packages into importable D2L-formatted packages using separate conversion tools. D2L
recommends working with your D2L Account Manager to discuss converting and importing from supported systems.

Browser support
D2L is committed to performing key application testing when new browser versions are released. However, due to the
frequency of some browser releases, D2L cannot guarantee that each browser version will perform as expected. If you
encounter any issues with any of the browser versions listed in the tables below, contact D2L Support, who will
determine the best course of action for resolution. Reported issues are prioritized by supported browsers and then
maintenance browsers.
Supported browsers are the latest or most recent browser versions that are tested against new versions of D2L
products. Customers can report problems and receive support for issues. For an optimal experience, D2L recommends
using supported browsers with D2L products.
Maintenance browsers are older browser versions that are not tested extensively against new versions of D2L products.
Customers can still report problems and receive support for critical issues; however, D2L does not guarantee all issues
will be addressed. A maintenance browser becomes officially unsupported after one year.
Note the following:
 Ensure that your browser has JavaScript and Cookies enabled.
 For desktop systems, you must have Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or greater.

Compatibility with specific versions of the Brightspace platform may vary.
Brightspace Pulse
Brightspace Pulse is a mobile app that can help learners stay connected and on track with their courses in D2L Learning
Environment. It provides one easy view of course calendars, readings, assignments, evaluations, grades, and
Announcements. The app can help learners make better decisions about how to handle workload, when to submit
assignments, and when to prepare for tests. Real-time alerts can let learners know when classes are canceled, rooms
are moved, or new grades are available. The schedule view and weekly visualization enables learners to quickly at a
glance view what is due today, this week, and upcoming across all their courses.
Brightspace Pulse is compatible with Brightspace platform 10.5.1 and higher.
Note: Brightspace Pulse is optimized for mobile devices.

D2L Assignment Grader
D2L Assignment Grader is a mobile application that you can use to download and evaluate assignment submissions
from your D2L Learning Environment course offering assignment submissions folders. You can view submissions and
add grades and feedback while connected to the Internet or offline. While connected to the Internet, the application
automatically synchronizes grades and feedback with your D2L Learning Environment Assignments folderAssignment
submission folderassignment submissions folders, but you can choose to release the information to learners at a later
time. You can apply feedback in a variety of formats including text, audio, or video. You can access rubrics, make inline
comments and make annotations directly to submissions to provide contextualized feedback to learners.
D2L Assignment Grader is compatible with Brightspace platform 10.2 and higher.

application has swipe and tap functionalities, allowing learners to navigate between documents and interact with
the content such as hyperlinks and images.
 Personalized - Using the Document Viewer, users can tailor their experience based on their preferences. For
example, the application allows learners to select from essential annotation tools and customize the colors and
styles that they want to use.
 Productive - The flexibility of e-text seamlessly adapts to the study habits of learners, to help them efficiently and
effectively grasp concepts. For example, learners can prioritize, bookmark or flag important documents to facilitate

learning. You can include items such as documents, graphics, audio files, videos, presentations, and course work to
demonstrate your improvement or mastery in certain areas.
You can control what items you want to include in your portfolio, how they are organized, and who you want to share
them with. When you share items with your peers, mentors, or potential employers, you can give them permission to
view items, edit items, see or add comments, and see or add assessments to receive feedback.
