Jr. PHP Web Developer
Description:
We are looking for some exceptionally intelligent and enthusiastic new Computer Science
graduates to join a team of developers we are building here at QuinStreet. Ultimately, the work
will be done in PHP; however, it is not required that you have extensive PHP experience as we
will put you through a detailed training program.
It is, however, required that you have mastered one of the major development languages, have
had some hands on experience, even if only academic, and can pick up new concepts quickly.
Our Web Developers will provide support for our Publishing Team’s suite of content-rich online
properties. This position will work closely with our Technical Managers to innovate and create
web applications, sites, and widgets.
The major responsibilities of the Web Developer will be:
- Work with a team of Web developers to design, develop, and debug Web applications
- Using creativity to innovate new products to enhance Web user experience
- Keeping up with new Internet standards and Web technologies (Web 2.0, AJAX, Ruby on Rails,
etc.)
- Exposure to an MVC framework such as Zend, CodeIgnighter, CakePHP, or similar.
- JavaScript coding experience and familiar with a JavaScript framework such as Mootools, YUI,
JQuery, Prototype, or similar.
Technical Requirements:
- 6 months - 3 years in working with PHP and MySQL or another major programming language
- Some Knowledge of front-end scripting including: HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX
- Some Hands-on experience with web application architecture and relational database design
- Some Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing (SEM)
- Some Exposure to other server-side scripting languages such as JSP, ASP, CFM
- Some Exposure to object-oriented language, such as Java, Microsoft .NET
- Familiarity with the UNIX environment
- Understanding and demonstrated adaptation of cross-platform, cross-browser compatibility
concerns
- Professional Web application development experience in building database-driven applications
and Web sites
