Activity:
1. Show students how to interpret a graph.
2. Have students plot points.
3. Graph on a graphing calculator with given coordinates
4. Give an outside assignment
Assessment:
Record three weeks closing prices of one share of common stock from a newspaper financial page. Make a graph of the data. Comment, in complete sentences, on any trend you observe.
Most libraries carry back issues of news papers, so it is possible to gather all three weeks worth of data for this project at once.

Activity:
After making his fortune with Koko, his trusty camel, Bobo decided to throw a huge pizza party. He wanted to invite all of his friends from the desert. This was going to be quite a few people, so he ordered a gigantic pizza, the largest in the world.
The pizza was so big that it was going to cost Bobo a small fortune just to cut it. The Worlds
Largest Pizza Cutting Company is going to charge Bobo $500 per straight cut. Obviously, Bobo was going to have to slice up the pizza in as few cuts as possible in order to save money. What are the minimum and maximum number of people Bobo can invite to his celebration if he uses 3 cuts? 4 cuts? 5 cuts? 6 cuts? n cuts? Assume each person at the party gets one piece of pizza. Size is not relevant. Show steps for developing pattern.
Assessment Problem:
Sum the consecutive odd integers 1 through 199. Use a table of data an determine a
pattern, find an equation for the nth term. Explain the pattern you found , and why it works in this case. Use words and numbers in your explanation.

Solve the inequality symbolically: b. The Fun Corporation is building a bowling alley to compete with Fairfield Lanes. Fairfield charges $5.50 per person. Fun Corporation wants to attract parties with budgets of $100 or less and to keep the per-person cost below that charged by Fairfield.
1. Let the number of people be the input, and let total cost be the output. Draw a line representing the $100 budget limit. Add another line and shading to represent the pricing options for fun Corporation.
2. If a party were held at Fair field Lanes for $100, how many people could attend?
3. Suppose Fun Corporation charged $5 per person. Mark and identify the points that show how many people could attend for $50 and for $100.
4. What is the Fun Corporation charge pre person if (10,35) is a point on their cost line?
