Introduce employee to department staff, other frequently contacted personnel/departments, and building monitor(s). Provide work area tour: assigned workplace and equipment, restrooms, lunch facilities, supplies, mail room. Discuss information/procedures useful to employee: pay days, when to turn in time sheets, confidentiality, work hours -no more than 19 hours a week, rest breaks, lunch break, punching in/out, punctuality, drop below 6 credits to notify you, discuss appropriate work attire and if convicted of a crime they are to notify you. Explain departmental policies/procedures/organization chart. Show employee where to find additional information regarding university policies and procedures. Explain performance management procedures (discuss use of performance evaluation sheet, frequency of performance reviews; training and development suggestions). Explain that all CWU technology/equipment/furniture (telephone, e-mail, computers, desk, locker, etc.) are for business use only and property of CWU; discuss inappropriate use of technology/ equipment/supplies/mail. Discuss safety regulations and policies (including CWU Hazard Communication Policy: http://www.cwu.edu/~ehs/hazard.doc); show where the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for the department are located, room/building exit(s), first aid kit and fire extinguisher; discuss building security; discuss procedure for reporting accidents to the supervisor immediately and completing appropriate form(s).
