Catalog Description : Provides opportunities for application of the nursing process to clients/patients experiencing acute and chronic alterations in human functioning within a variety of settings.

Course Description : Builds on previous knowledge and skills applicable to the practice of professional nursing.

Clinical focus is on application of the nursing process to individuals, families and groups. The emphasis is on caring for adults and children experiencing alterations in human functioning with predictable outcomes, caring for the childbearing family, and caring for individuals, families and groups experiencing alterations in psychosocial/cultural functioning.

Course Objectives:

1. Demonstrate legal and ethical behaviors while providing nursing care to patients throughout the life span.

2. Apply critical thinking skills in relating knowledge from humanities, natural behavioral, computer sciences and previous nursing courses in implementing evidence-based therapeutic nursing interventions.

Utilize the nursing process with a focus on health promotion and risk reduction in caring for diverse patient populations experiencing common, recurring, well-defined alternations in health.

Utilize principles of effective therapeutic communication with diverse patient populations and members of the interdisciplinary health care team.

Implement appropriate professional nursing roles in providing nursing care to diverse patient populations throughout the life span.

9. Provide evidenced-based nursing interventions using technological advances for delivery of care and management of patient information.

10. Relate the aspects of Christian caring to activities that promote caring for others.

11. Manage community resources that assist diverse patient populations throughout the life span to attain, maintain, or regain an optimum level of health.

12. Relate a basic understanding of the effects of the Global community on disease transmission.
