Thursday, September 17th, 2015 English 11A TODAY’S OBJECTIVES: Students will examine how the author’s purpose affects his/her use of language and choice of form (MCPS 3.4.2) AGENDA: 1. Individually create at least one page narrative (tell a story) where, instead of snow, you are traveling through the desert in 120 degree heat searching for water. You may have one animal companion. How did you end up in the desert? How well are you prepared? What calamities do you encounter? Do you survive? If so, how? Use descriptive language so your reader can visualize your main character, setting and your adventure. With classmate, make sure that all six elements of a narrative are covered (see webpage). Turn in by end of period. 2. Write two-page personal, nonfiction, or fictional narrative from Emerson quote(pg. 267 of Collections textbook): “Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.” Rubric can be found on pg. 270 of Collections textbook.
