English 11A
TODAY’S OBJECTIVES:
Students will examine how the author’s purpose affects
his/her use of language and choice of form (MCPS 3.4.2)
AGENDA:
1. Individually create at least one page narrative (tell a story)
where, instead of snow, you are traveling through the desert in 120
degree heat searching for water. You may have one animal
companion. How did you end up in the desert? How well are you
prepared? What calamities do you encounter? Do you survive? If
so, how? Use descriptive language so your reader can visualize
your main character, setting and your adventure. With classmate,
make sure that all six elements of a narrative are covered (see
webpage). Turn in by end of period.
2.
Write two-page personal, nonfiction, or fictional narrative
from Emerson quote(pg. 267 of Collections textbook): “Trust
thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.” Rubric can be
found on pg. 270 of Collections textbook.
