Barbara H. Padnos International Center 2015 INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP SUSTENANCE GRANT The Padnos International Center (PIC) works collaboratively with departments and colleges across campus to develop meaningful international programs that enhance the academic activities of the university. In support of our mission, it is our goal to not only introduce colleagues to GVSU’s international partnerships, but also to encourage longterm cooperative activities that benefit and enrich both institutions. The Partnership Sustenance Grant has been developed to support faculty that have been involved with a partner institution and have made significant contributions to the development of the partnership. The grant offers funding for short-term exchange opportunities that focus on nurturing relationships and sustaining program activities. CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION PIC invites applications from full-time, tenure or tenure-track faculty that have made a significant contribution to one of GVSU’s international partnerships. A “significant contribution” is defined as having served as a key departmental liaison or academic advisor for one or more of GVSU’s international partnerships, a faculty member that has been actively involved in hosting students and/or visiting scholars from partner institutions, and/or a faculty member that has been involved in student orientation programs and actively recruits students to study abroad by participating in recruitment events such as the Study Abroad Fairs. The grant is available to faculty involved in any of GVSU’s international exchange programs. This grant is not appropriate for those involved with GVSU’s consortium programs or affiliations. APPLICATION PROCESS Applications will be reviewed by the Director of Study Abroad & International partnerships and Chief International Officer in the Padnos International Center. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Mission Statement: To engage the University community in meaningful international experiences which foster and appreciation and awareness of diverse cultures, people and ideas. FUNDING PIC will aim to award two grants each year to faculty that meet the eligibility criteria. The maximum grant award will be $2500 and can be used for international travel, incountry travel related to partnership activities, accommodations, and a per diem meal stipend. Grant recipients will be required to submit a report on the grant activity at the time the request for reimbursement is submitted (within 45 days of your return). Reimbursement will not be processed without the accompanying report. All reports must be uploaded to the PIC website at: www.gvsu.edu/pic. Grant applicants requesting funding for an international partner that is designated as college or department-level partner will require a 50% matching contribution from that college or department.
