The WFMO Compensation team will work with the submitting department to obtain clarification and classify the job (i.e. title and pay grade) based on the duties and responsibilities. The Compensation team will guide the hiring department regarding Tulane’s compensation philosophy, as codified in the University’s Compensation Resource Guide. Part II – The Interview What NOT to ASK – Don’t ask candidates about: Nationality, birthplace, national origin Foreign languages spoken UNLESS required by job Disability Criminal record Marital status Gender Age The Interview – What to Ask You may ask about: • Her/his ability to perform the required job functions. • Any professional experience or educational training as required for the job. • Limit interview to job related conversation only. Part III - The Offer The salary offer must be in alignment with the communicated Compensation guidelines. Verbal and/or written Offers may not be extended until the offer is approved in Manager iRecruitment. The Verbal Offer The Verbal Offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. A candidate should not be advised of a potential start date, or advised to give notice to a current employer, until the background check has been cleared. Onboarding New Hires receive an electronic Offer letter as part of the onboarding documents. Staff do not receive employment contracts. If an offer letter is issued by the department, it must state the approved salary by WFMO Compensation. Staff Orientation The start date is to be coordinated with the WFMO Employment office.
