Check with mentor/close faculty as to if they know people where you are applying During an interview, ask what the interviewer does/ask questions Be prepared to defer answers to illegal questions in a polite manner Fine the right language to express your transferable skills Don’t eliminate jobs that you think are not the perfect match for you Don’t allow your mentor to force you into a job search you are uncomfortable with Be public on the internet and portray your professional profile carefully Remember to inquire about those you are interviewing with - what they do Learn how to ask questions and ask follow up questions Talk about your research in a way that it showcases you Critique someone in a way that they can improve Always talk to a mentor about where to find job listings Register in your area of expertise in professional networks Use same keywords used in the listed job
