Research staff will inform animal care
staff ahead of time that Doxorubicin
will be used, and arrangements will be
made for housing of animals. Fresh
cages will be used for the animals at
the time of administration.

All Responsible Animal bedding is not to be changed for at least 3 days after the date

Precautions:
 Disposable gown and a 2nd pair of gloves in addition to the usual
protective clothing worn.
Investigator’s
 This SASP will be posted on the door of the room in which the
Responsibilityanimals will be housed.

 Cages will be labeled with a red card denoting “Doxorubicin” along

The appropriate drug will be administered by injection in operating room

RRF
When cleaning the cages and contaminated bedding goggles, face
Responsibilityshield, nitrile or rubber gloves, rubber boots, and coveralls will be worn
Cage Change: by the animal care staff of at least the first 3 days after the
administration of Doxorubicin. After the cage is cleaned an RRF
approved disinfectant will be sprayed on the cleaned surfaces. After
cleaning the room the animal care staff will wash their hands
thoroughly.
