Directorate of Corporate Affairs Job description for Erasmus Work Placement Student Department: Oxford Brookes International FT or % PT: 0.8 FT (30 hrs/week) Focus of placement: International Marketing & Communications (Pathways Marketing & Administrative Support) (Pathways courses are our pre-sessional English Language courses and Summer School programmes) Principal location of work: Headington Hill Hall Immediate line manager: International Marketing & Communications Manager/Pathways Marketing Officer Overall purpose of placement: Gain experience of the various types of marketing and communication tools used by Oxford Brookes International (OBI) to aid international student recruitment to our Pathways programmes. Learn how communication works internally within the team and across the wider University. Anticipated outcomes for the placement: Gain experience about marketing and communication activities within higher education. More specifically, gain experience of working on and creating materials that are used for international student recruitment and conversion. Understand market planning and the work involved in delivering recruitment campaigns overseas Main duties: Supporting improvements to our Pathways Web and Intranet pages – writing copy, analysis, helping to design pages and uploading material. Supporting our marketing through the use of social networking sites & providing regular feedback on these sites to the wider team Organise and action Pathways student profiles, interviews and focus groups Helping to design & write copy for Pathways promotional material (adverts, flyers, publications etc) Replying to student enquires (coming into us by phone, email and through our exhibitions overseas) and establishing a contacts database for future mailings Assisting with the day to day administrative tasks within the team Supporting the organisation of overseas trips and inbound visits Coordinating promotional material from across the University for freighting to overseas exhibitions Liaising with other departments within the University and individual and organisations externally to obtain information, investigate or carry out routine duties for the Team To assist in the delivery of new Web and Intranet pages to support University trips overseas Please note: The job holder must ensure and confirm that they are in receipt of Erasmus funding from their home university for the period of this work placement. Relevant Skills/Aptitudes Essential Interest in marketing and communications as a future career Computer literate – experience of using Microsoft Office. Familiar with the various web browsers and search engines. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a solid grasp of the English language. (IELTS at 6.0 or above or equivalent) Proven organisational ability Attention to detail & accuracy Ability to work to tight deadlines 2.
