Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Probation and Community Corrections Coordinator, provides case management services for adult offenders ordered to community services and/or other community-based correctional programs. Performs client intake, matches clients with appropriate community service or jail-alternative worksites, and monitors client participation in and performance of community service work assignments. The ideal candidate will have a thorough working knowledge of the criminal justice system, Michigan Court Rules, and the Michigan Criminal Code, as well as a good working knowledge of the principles and practices of probation and case management, including graduated sanctions and treatment strategies.

This is a part-time, non-benefited, position working 19.5 hour a week, based at various courts and sites in Ottawa County.

Required Education, Training and Experience:

Minimum of an Associate's degree in human services, criminal justice, psychology, sociology or a related field combined with six (6) months experience in community supervision and/or intervention services for adult offenders, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Licenses & Certifications:

Valid State of Michigan Driver's License.

Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within 6 months of the date of hire.

Must obtain PBT Class I Operator certification with 3 months of the date of hire.

Physical Requirements:

Must possess sufficient visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses, to visually monitor clients and must possess sufficient auditory acuity, with or without audio-logical appliances, to monitor clients in all activities, throughout the work day at JAWS work sites.

Must be able to tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures; dirt, dust, pollen and other airborne particulates; and inclement weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in both a normal office environment and at outdoor JAWS work sites. Supervision of clients at work sites may entail exposure to environmental, health and safety hazards and to personal jeopardy from aggressive clients and/or family members. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and to other bodily fluids when administering drug and alcohol tests. May be exposed to moving mechanical and other hazards from landscape and grounds machinery and equipment operation.
