Scoring Rubric
Background:
This final project showcases the different skills learned in Mechatronics. This project is
40% of the final grade and is worth 200 points.
Point Distribution:
Documentation (100 Points)
All documentation must be posted on the website: 20 points each
1. Pictures – Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Science
2. Mechanical – Post a detailed drawing of your design.
3. Electrical – Post a detailed schematic of your entire design.
4. Computer Science – Post well documented code of your entire design.
5. Video – Showcase functionality of the entire system.
Performance (100 Points)
Performance grades are assigned during the Wednesday of dead week: 20 points each
1. Can the system accurately locate checkers? Use standard checkers notation:

Works only with a still image, no robustness – 5
Works with webcam images, only an occasional error – 10
Works perfectly with varying checker positions and lighting conditions – 20
2. Can the system correctly move a checker from any square to any another square?
Works with single checkers that are centered on the square – 5
Works with single checkers that are off centered on the square – 10
Works with checkers that were placed by the robot - 20
3. Can the system be used to make a move in less than 20 seconds?
There is a 1 second penalty for every second over 20 seconds.
4. Can the grabber handle moving kings as well as singles?
20 points or 0 points.
5. Can the system be used to play an entire game of checkers?
20 points or 0 points.
Bonus (40 Points)
1. Can the checkers system automatically set up the checkers board? (10 points)
2. Can the checkers system play autonomously? (30 points)
