Pre-fair work day at Fairgrounds: Pre-fair work day at the fairgrounds will be Saturday, June 25, beginning at 9:00 a.m. You need to be there no later than 10:00 a.m. to sign in so you can have lunch. 4-H members, remember to sign in so you can get points for your club, for the “Outstanding Club Award”, by working at clean-up day at the fairgrounds. Please bring mowers, weed eaters, paint brushes, hoses, buckets, brooms, cleaning rags, shovels, pitchforks, hammers, and any other tool or implement that you think you might need. 2. Pre-entry date for the fair is June 6, 2016: Enrollments received after the pre-entry date of June 6 will be charged a $20.00 late fee. This late fee will be enforced. 3. Art Hall tags & Pre-enrollment forms are available either on line or from the extension office. Pre enrollment forms are due to the Extension Office June 6. Copies of the art hall pre-registration forms will be available at the Art Hall on entry day. Exhibitors will need to pick them up at the Help Table in the Exhibitors Building, and take them to the Entry Table where all changes in the exhibits entered will be made. Then exhibitors will take the entry forms with them to the judges so that the judges can enter the ribbons. After all exhibits are judged, members need to return the forms to the Entry Table so the ribbons can be entered in the entry books and then in the computer. Please attach entry tags securely to all articles in a visible area before you bring them to the fair. More entry forms and tags are available at the Extension Office if you need them. 4. Livestock Pre-Enrollment: Entry fees will be $1.00 per class for horses and dogs and $1.00 per animal for cattle, swine, goats, sheep, small animals, llamas, etc. These fees will be paid at pre-registration and no refunds will be given. 5. Entry Day for the Art Hall is Tuesday, July 12, 2016: All judging will be done by self-evaluation method, so members must bring their own exhibits. Members with an acceptable excuse, illness, death in the family, visitation with non- custodial parent, work, etc. must contact the Extension Office before entry day for instructions. Please read the rules and regulations in the fair book for details about these rules. The time schedule for each club's entries is: JUDGING SCHEDULE Exhibits will be judged on Tuesday; July 11 as follows: 9:15 to 10:00 a.m. 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon Azen Jolly Timers Gorin Go Getters Jolly Jacks and Jills, Boy Scouts, FFA State Fair Judging (Art Hall closed to everyone with the exception of Judges, Superintendents & Extension personnel. Lunch for Judges 4-H Clubs, and Boy Scouts set up exhibits in Art Hall for public display. 6. Preparing Project Articles for Exhibit - Articles made in project work should be exhibited as attractively as possible. Foods (except canned goods) should be exhibited on heavy paper plates covered with a paper doily. Securely wrap food exhibits such as cookies, breads, etc. Samples should be wrapped separately. Vegetables should not be peeled, but should be washed clean. Clothing exhibits such as skirts, blouses, dresses, slacks, and coats must be on hangers. They may be displayed in a clear plastic garment bag. Knitted and Crocheted items should be neatly folded and placed in a clear plastic bag. Other items can be exhibited folded and placed in a clear plastic bag to keep them clean. Judges must be able to open the bag to inspect the exhibit. Use your own discretion as to how exhibits can best be displayed. Check Art Hall rules in the fair book for poster sizes and case sizes for exhibiting collections. All exhibits will be placed on shelves or hung, except for large items which will be placed on the floor. If you have any questions on how to prepare an item for exhibit, ask your club leader, call the Extension Office, Alisa Kigar. 7. Release of Exhibits in the Art Hall will be Sunday afternoon, July 17 from noon until 1 p.m. Each exhibitor will be responsible for seeing that his or her exhibits are picked up by someone. Exhibits not picked up will be left in the Art Hall. 8. Post-Fair Ground Cleanup will be Sunday afternoon, July 17 starting at noon. Members and parents need to sign in to get credit for the “Outstanding Club Award”. 9. Entry Day: For Small Animals (rabbits, poultry, cats, etc.) will start at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12. For Sheep & Goats will be Tuesday, July 12 starting at 2:00 p.m. For Swine will be Tuesday July 12 at 3:00 p.m. For Beef will be, Tuesday July 12 at 4 p.m. Both Sheep and Swine need to be clean and dry before weigh-in and market lambs should be slick shorn, so the numbers will stay on better. Exhibitors will draw for sale order at the time they are entered and weighed in. When weigh-ins are finished exhibitors and their parents are requested to attend a meeting with the Livestock barn superintendents. Exhibitors need to make final decisions of what animals they are selling and let the superintendents know at weigh-in so the sale catalogues can be printed. Buyers want to know what animals are selling early in fair week. 10. Sign up for the Exhibitor's Livestock Awards is open now. Both parent and member signatures are required to register. The parent certifies that the member will care for the animal and bring it back to the fair the following year. The Extension Center is open from 8:30 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. till 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. 11. Poultry Testing for the Fair will be on Tuesday afternoon, July 12 at 1:00 p.m. along with small animal entry. 12. State Fair Items will need to be brought to the Extension Center by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5. Please refer to the fair book on what items can and cannot be shipped to Sedalia. Please leave your exhibitors tag attached when you deliver your State Fair articles to the office, but remove your ribbon. There will be no space outside the State Fair Building, so some large items are not be eligible to be sent. It is also recommended that very fragile items not be sent as there is a possibility that they will be broken. The State Fair suggests taking 5” x 7” pictures of large items and very fragile items and send one picture of the item to the fair. These pictures will not be returned. The sale of Art Hall exhibits at the Jr. Livestock and Project Sale will be final and those exhibits will not be eligible to go to the Missouri State Fair. Art Hall Exhibits are to be delivered to the buyer at the time of the sale. 13. 4-H Royalty will be announced on Sunday Evening, July 10th, at 6:30 p.m. 2015 Royalty and 2016 candidates will need to meet in front of the grand stand at 6:00 p.m. Please be dressed appropriately (Suit and tie or dress shirt, tie and slacks are fine for boys. A dressy dress or pants outfit is a good choice for a girl). Also be prepared to tell a little about yourself, as each one of you will be asked to introduce yourself. 14. Wool entry forms are available at the Extension Center for those who want to exhibit wool. Remember wool must be pre-registered like everything else. Also remember that wool will be one of the two items you are allowed to sell at the Jr. Livestock Sale this year. Wool will not be an additional item to sell at the sale. 15. Premium checks and livestock checks will be available at the Extension Office at the same time to avoid members not picking up one of their checks. This is important to help keeping the records from the fair up to date. Remember the bank collects all of the money from the Jr. Livestock Sale and the checks will not be ready until all of the money is collected. They will be available at the Extension Office. Members will need to bring in their thank you notes to the Extension Office be able to pick up their checks. Members must mail the thank you notes themselves. 16. Jr. Livestock Sale: Exhibitors can sell art hall items, rabbits, poultry, and bucket calves as well as the usual animals. An exhibitor is still limited to two (2) items. All of the animals and items will be sold in the show barn. If you are selling an art hall item, it shall be ready to be delivered to the buyer. Foods items should be freshly made, vegetable freshly picked and other perishable items redone for the buyer at the time of the sale. Wool will be one of the two (2) items sold at the sale.
