2016-2017 Scholarship Application for Non-traditional Students
Applicants meeting the following criteria will be considered for an American Association of University
Women (AAUW) Muncie Branch scholarship in the amount of $1,500 to be awarded for the 2016-2017
academic year, effective August 1, 2016 through July 31, 2017. The scholarship is to be used for tuition,
health fee, books, and other classroom-related expenses for the year, including summer session.
Scholarship selection criteria:
a) Male and female students who are age 23 or older
b) Graduate or undergraduate students who have completed at least thirty (30) semester hours and
will be attending Ball State University, Ivy Tech, and/or other approved post-secondary
institutions. Recipients may be enrolled as full-time or part-time students, but must carry at least 6
hours.
c) Students who reside in Delaware County, Indiana, at least 12 months prior to the application
deadline
d) Students who have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
e) Students who have demonstrated financial need.
If an applicant meets the applicant criteria, the Scholarship Committee will evaluate the applicant’s career
goals, potential for realization of goals, change of career focus, financial need and verbal
recommendations to determine the scholarship recipient(s).

The AAUW Muncie Branch Scholarship Committee will review the applications and make selections for
final candidates. Final candidates will be notified of the selection for personal interviews by April 21,
2016. Following the personal interview, the scholarship recipient(s) will be notified. All applicants will be
notified of the results of the competition by May 11, 2016. The information in the applications and/or
derived from personal interviews shall be considered privileged information of the committee.
The scholarship grant will be presented at the AAUW Muncie Branch annual meeting which will be
scheduled for May. The awardee is expected to make a brief presentation of five minutes or less to the
membership in attendance.
Scholarship funds remaining in the student’s account due to graduation, withdrawal from school, or
scholarship forfeiture, will be returned to AAUW Muncie Branch.
