Types of Poetry
Haiku
Dinosaurs
Grazing peacefully
Primordial instincts alive
Some were face-eaters
Ouch!
Acrostic
Monkeys make bad pets
Ocean animals uneatable
Opposing hallway affection
Never tap on tables
Ever ready for zombies
No you can’t come too
Raptors battle with with lightsabers
Under the watchful T-Rex eye
Label your axes!
Eyes duel colors, Chimera!
Science is awesome!
Biting into heads
is much harder than it looks.
The skull is fiesty.
Ode
Eyeballs, eyeballs juicy sweet.
Eyeballs, eyeballs what a treat!
Eyeballs, eyeballs soft and round.
Eyeballs, eyeballs slide right down.
Sonnet
Quatrain
Raptor raptor burning bright
Louder than a lion’s roar
Gnashing teeth full of gore
Hunting hunting me tonight
Zombies like the taste of brain
All your dreams go down the drain
Body revved up on caffeine
Do your best to stay sane
Giant toe-claw, what a sight!
Clicking clacking on the floor
Hide-n-seek out the door
Adrenal glands pumping fight or flight
I want no part of their cuisine
If you like you can scream
Their bodies full of rot
In the land dead I am queen
Dueling lightsabers we do clash
Tricky raptor dirty cheater
Through the air it does slash
I am pro, so much 1337er
Unless it all goes to pot
No more lessons by books taught
Teeth so wicked of black and green
With no lips you smile a lot
Unfair shot and mine goes flying
My backup lightsaber comes in
handy
Pouty raptor to your mom go crying
Victory assured sweet as candy
Fear alive in the blood stream
A less than democratic regime
From my lips a blaspheme
Human pizza supreme

Dramatic Monologue
Limerick
I always knew that my journey through life
would lead to this moment. I had hoped
that I would have longer, but maybe we
always hope that. I have only seconds to
contemplate before they come so let me
remember how it all started.
How does one make enemies? Does it
start with words or does it only take a look
to know that one of you will not come out of
a conflict safe and happy? I think our battle
started with an idea…..time travel!
It was brilliant. I would be rich. I was
wrong, I am poor and hunted. The raptors
are coming.
