Requirements for Character Trait Letter Write a three-paragraph letter to me using the following guidelines: Use the “Sample Format For a Friendly Letter” hand out. Choose THREE character traits that describe the story’s main character. Write one paragraph for each trait, providing specific and thorough evidence to support the trait you chose. Your evidence is shown by the character’s words (use quotes), thoughts, ideas, and actions. Write your rough draft in your Writer’s Notebook. Type your final draft. Format Requirements Your Dear Mrs. Swagerty should not be indented. Each subsequent paragraph should be indented. After you finish your first draft, revise and edit before beginning your final draft. Parents are allowed to assist you in revising. Ask them to point out what you need to change and to explain why the change should be made, but be sure that you make the changes yourself. Reread your final draft before printing. More errors are inevitably found. Spell-check is allowed. Typing Requirements You may use any font but the size must be 12-point or 14-point. The lines must double spaced. Also, space once between words and twice between sentences. I have read these guidelines (These two signatures are required for everyone): Student ___________________________________ Parent ____________________________________ Sign below only if you are unable to type and print your final draft. I do not have a printer and, therefore, would like to have permission for my final draft to be handwritten. I promise that I will use my best hand-writing, that my paper will not be crumpled or torn, and that I will double-space (skip lines). The following signatures are only for those who are unable to turn in a typed copy. Student ____________________________________ Parent _____________________________________
