For details please visit: http://www.luc.edu/socialwork/admission/onlinestatistics/ In an effort to clarify any confusion regarding the School of Social Work Online Statistics course, below are some of the most common questions students have so hopefully this can clear up any confusion. The Online stats course usually begins within the first week of regularly scheduled classes and runs until mid semester, approximately 8-10 weeks in length. The exact dates will appear on the SSW registration link. How do I register? Once a current semester Stats course has begun, the next offering should appear by midterm and you may register by visiting: http://www.luc.edu/socialwork/payments What does it cost? The course fee is $550 Can I make payments? Because this is a non-credit course, the payment in MUST be made in FULL at the time of registration. Does financial aid cover this? The cost of this course MAY be covered by financial aid, if you complete a Budget Adjustment Appeal Form and it is approved by the university’s Financial Aid Office. To use financial aid to cover this course you will need to either pay for the course upfront and reimburse yourself once your access aid is released to you or wait to register for the course AFTER you have received your financial aid refund. Will this appear on LOCUS? No. Because this is a non-credit course, it will not appear in LOCUS or on your transcript but you will receive a letter of completion upon a successful completion of the course. It is important that you use your Loyola University Chicago (LUC) email when registering for this course as communication regarding this course and the materials to complete this course will be administer via Sakai, Loyola’s online learning management system. What will I need to do once I complete the course? Upon completion of the course your admissions record will be updated reflecting that you have met the school’s stats requirement. You will also receive a letter of completion via email. When is the latest I can enroll? In order to have ample time to meet the course objectives, all students must enroll no later than two weeks after the course start date. When will the course be available? Once your name has been added to Sakai, you will have access the course. This will occur no later than the first day of class or up to one week prior. You will receive an email letting you know when the course is available on Sakai. Where can I find the course on Sakai? The statistics course will be listed under “Organization” and NOT “Courses”. How does an online course work? You can complete the course at your own pace. There are seven quizzes based on the taped lectures and power points found on Sakai. Once you have successfully passed all the quizzes, you will make arrangements to take the final exam on campus. More information about the final exam schedule will be provided via Sakai.
