University Faculty Council Representative (draft 2-19-2007) Proposed UTK Faculty Senate Bylaws Change For Action at the March 5th, 2007 Faculty Senate Meeting The following language shall be added to the end of Article 2, Section 3, J (Nominating Committee). This committee shall nominate two candidates for position of faculty representative to the University Faculty Council. The committee shall solicit nominations for the University Faculty Council from the University Faculty at large and shall prepare a ballot that includes biographical information on all candidates. Elections shall be held every third academic year in the spring. The following section shall be added to the Bylaws. Article IV, Section 6 University Faculty Council Representative There shall be a representative of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville faculty elected by the Faculty Senate to serve a three-year term on the University Faculty Council. The representative’s term of office begins on July 1 following his/her election. The representative will attend and report on the meetings of the University Faculty Council to the Faculty Senate Executive Committee and the Faculty Senate. If for any reason a representative is not able to complete his/her term, the Faculty Senate Executive Committee shall elect an individual to complete the current year of the term. An election for a representative for a new three-year term is then to be conducted as per Article 2, Section 3 J by the Nominating Committee.
