Principles of Troubleshooting
2011 Course Information
Course Description
The Principles of Troubleshooting course is designed to teach today’s aircraft maintenance technician a logical approach to solving
aircraft problems. The course consists of both lecture and hands-on practice provided by FlightSafety’s “troubleshooter” - computer
simulations of aircraft systems and related test equipment. Using the “troubleshooter,” the technician analyzes the fault and chooses
maintenance actions such as continuity tests, bench checking, and component swapping that he or she might apply to correct the
problem. The “troubleshooter” not only evaluates the logic used but also keeps track of the time and expenses incurred by the technician
while solving problems. Using the methods taught in this course will result in shortened troubleshooting times. Actual hours in each
subject may vary depending on experience of class participants and topics discussed.
The course objectives are aligned with ATA 104 Level III recommendations

Safety Management Systems - For Aviation Professionals - 2 hours
0.05 EBA
As aircraft systems and operating environments grow in complexity, the organizational, cultural and human aspects of our industry need
to be addressed to ensure continuing improvement in aviation safety. That is the purpose behind your Safety Management System
(SMS), as a proactive, organization-wide, evolving safety process. Manufacturers, regulators, insurance underwriters, major aviation
organizations and progressive operators agree that establishing a Safety Management System is an optimal tool to ensure the safety of
your organization’s people, property and reputation.
Our Safety Management Systems courses were developed in partnership with the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) as an
easy way to ensure your entire flight operation understands the principles of SMS as well as their individual safety responsibilities. These
online courses will benefit flight departments that have an SMS or are in the process of implementing one and will prove valuable to ISBAO registered operators or those preparing for an IS-BAO audit.
This two-hour course takes a scenario-based approach to learning, using relatable, even humorous, real-life situations to introduce the
learner to the fundamental concepts of Safety Management Systems and focuses on fostering a proactive, positive safety culture. It is
intended for all professionals working within daily flight department operations, including pilots, maintenance personnel, flight attendants,
dispatchers, line personnel and administrative staff.
Maintenance RVSM (Recurrent) - 0.15 EBA
Keep your aircraft flying safely and legally in RVSM airspace with FlightSafety's non-aircraft-specific Recurrent Maintenance RVSM online
course. RVSM calls for special attention to every maintenance activity that is performed on the aircraft. For safety and compliance, it is
critical for technicians to be aware of all the RVSM maintenance requirements and regulations that qualify an aircraft for RVSM approval.
