Results of the electronic vote: Both proposals were approved by the ACC and forwarded to the Executive Committee. The policy related to students who have not met the PRE requirement and who need to continue to the professional level has been operationalized as follows, based on input from advising and others: Candidates in teacher preparation who have met all admissions requirements for the professional (“upper”) level in teacher preparation programs, including all preprofessional coursework, but have not passed the PRE exam may be allowed to continue in upper level professional education courses for one semester while they prepare for and re-take the unpassed sections of the PRE. These candidates are required to enroll in a one-credit (pass/fail) seminar to help them prepare for the PRE during the semester they are permitted to continue to the upper level. Candidates who wish to extend the exception beyond one semester will need to appeal to the Assessment and Compliance Committee. Note: This exception is to be granted only for candidates whose academic progress would be impeded by waiting until they have passed all sections of the PRE. Candidates who qualify for this exception must be approved by the CEHD Director of Advising or the Director of Teacher Education. Candidates who believe they qualify for the exception should contact the Director of Advising for approval. The proposal for adding a code indicating that a faculty member is part of the educator preparation unit has been forwarded to the university’s data managers for review.
