Newcastle University are excited to announce their week long “Marine Biology and the natural environment”
Summer School for Key Stage 3 pupils. It offers 11-14 years olds a chance to investigate and explore the
natural world in an informal and friendly setting, and gives them a “taster” of science and university life. As
well as field trips, aquarium activities and microscope investigations, the children can enjoy games, art
projects and fun activities.

The course will run from 10.00 until 15.00 Monday to Friday, 22nd to 26th August 2016. Places
will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The cost for this course is £110; cheques should
be made payable to “Newcastle University”. If for whatever reason your child is unsuccessful in
securing a place, your cheque will be returned.

If you know that your child will miss the course on a particular day, we would be grateful if you could
telephone us at the Dove at the earliest possible opportunity (0191- 208 3051).

Please make a note of this telephone number for emergencies.
There is a "field trip" component to this course. By signing the consent form you are giving us permission to
bring your child to venues such as the rocky shore, a river or woodland sites.
Please ensure your child is adequately clothed for outdoor trips. Warm layers and waterproof coats are
needed even in summer months. If your child does not have wellington boots, a change of footwear is
advised.
Your child will need a packed lunch each day.
We would be very grateful if you could return the completed form attached to: Outreach Team, Summer
Schools, Dove Marine Laboratory, Cullercoats, North Shields, NE30 4PZ by Friday, 18th May 2016.
Without this consent form we cannot take your child onto the summer school. Please include payment with
the form.
