Rationale: (please tick) Administrative – the programme is being merged with a new programme on a new code and the old code is to be deleted Rationalisation – the programme has been superseded by a new degree which addresses institutional strategy, market needs, resources, or staff research interests more appropriately Staffing – staff expertise in the subject area is no longer available (no match to staff profile and/or research interests of the academic unit) Under-recruitment – a significant decline in student demand has taken place, and recruitment is not expected to improve in the future Other – please specify below Please explain rationale in more detail below. The Chair of FLTSEC may ask for additional information to assist in the consideration of requests. 1 Obligations to Students: If the withdrawal will affect existing students please provide details of the arrangements for dealing with them, including: o How many students are left to complete o The expected date of completion of the last student cohort o Will students continue to have access to facilities? o Is academic and administrative support available for the programme (and any modules to be withdrawn) until the last cohort completes? o Is there an external examiner in place until the last cohort completes? o (PGT programmes only) What arrangements are in place for the supervision of dissertations? If students are registered on the programme they must be consulted about the withdrawal and how it will affect them. Please give details of the consultation results If there are students who have applied for the programme and been offered a place but are yet to register, the form must also cover arrangements for dealing with them Taking the University’s Single Equality Scheme into account, will the withdrawal impact on those with protected characteristics? If yes, please explain below what the potential impact will be and what arrangements will be made for dealing with this For advice regarding the withdrawal/suspension of modules, please contact your Faculty Quality Team (see foot of document). Consultation: The proposal must be considered at the relevant BoS and, if supported, the form should be signed by the HoS. The views of all academic units involved in programme or module delivery must be sought and properly considered If the proposal affects any joint awards, then the proposal must be considered at other relevant BoS, and evidence of support from all relevant HoS must be provided (copies of relevant emails will suffice). Where the withdrawal involves an educational partnership, the decision must be agreed by all interested parties and take account of any relevant provisions in the memorandum of agreement (copies of relevant emails will suffice).
