ABSTRACT
The project methodology cover the following: Site reconnaissance survey,
the use of existing layout of street-map, rainfall intensity duration frequency
chart. Rational method was used for computation of the surface runoff resulting
from the water shed area and Manning’s equation was adopted for sizing of the
drains. The open Channel, Rectangular and Trapezoidal sections were
considered. In trapezoidal channel section, a maximum depth of channel is
obtained and bottom width is established while that of rectangular channel the
depth and bottom width equally established. While for closed conduit, the
diameters of the pipes were also determined using maximum discharge for the
channel.
The Bill of Engineering, Measurement and evaluation (BEME) produced
shows that the cost of constructing the rectangular channel is N20,272.455.00
and closed conduit is N38,085,715.00.
