Gary joined the faculty in ISU's Center for Science Education and Biology in the fall of 2014 and
is teaching SCED 393 Science in the Elementary School as well as a non-majors biology. At the
college/university level, he previously taught at Vincennes University in Vincennes, IN and at
the College of the Marshall Islands in the Marshall Islands. Additionally, he taught science at the
middle and high school levels for 21 years in both AZ and IL.
Gary's current research interests are anything science-related where data can be collected and
analyzed. Whether it's increasing student interest in STEM by connecting science to "real life"
and/or involving students in research projects to reveal previously unknown phenomena, he is
always looking for new strategies that can be used to increase student's ability to think critically
and solve problems.
