Thomas Bruce presented at International Conflict-resolution conference in St. Petersburg, Russia – Spring, ’04.

Gayle Pitman developed and implemented Student learning outcome project for SCC 1 st

annual SLO assessment institute.

 Alan Keys was selected for inclusion in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, 2004” and facilitated 1 st

annual student learning outcome institute for SCC faculty.

Barbara Davis-Lyman served as co-chair of District Educational Initiative Task Force – Spring, ‘04.

Gayle Pitman participated on the National Eating Disorders Screening Day panel.

Lisa Gunderson participated on the National Depression Screening Day panel and in

LRCCD’s

Pathways program for new faculty.

Angela Curiale was the primary faculty member responsible for the revival of the Women’s Alliance, and she has completed another year of pro bono community work providing counseling, consultation, and presentations on a variety of issues central to the lives of women.

Chris Tromborg continued his work at UC Davis by teaching a class on Psychobiology and serving on a graduate committee. He also presented a workshop on Learning Cycles and the Brain, joined AAUP and APA, and developed two

new courses, Cognitive Psychology and Animal Psychobiology.

Secure funding for professional development activities.

Implement strategies to improve the effectiveness of department meetings:

•Improve dissemination of meeting information by recording meeting minutes and making them available to full-time and adjunct faculty.

Shifting from a purely “informational” format to a biweekly “informational/working meeting” format.

Flexibilty needed in ability to utilize multimedia resources in traditional classrooms

Faculty need to maintain their attendance and participation in regional and state conferences/workshops to stay current on issues in psychology and student learning outcome assessment in times of shrinking staff development funds.

Comprehensive physiological, biofeedback, psychophysic monitoring system will allow for the teaching of a variety of modules in the standalone Biological Psychology lab course in development.

Survey on student interest in Psychology AA degree was completed in Fall, ’03 and indicated an average 70% positive interest in pursuing the proposed degree.

A 54% increase in all Psychology courses was found from Fall,

1999 to Fall, 2003. This increase reached 79% when limited to the core courses of the degree(Psych 300,310,& 320).
