Rich: We will start off with approval of several sets of minutes. I will take one motion to approve
the minutes for Feb 11, Feb 25, March 25, and April 8th.

Rich: Let’s take a look at each one of these set of minutes to see if anybody has any comments or
question we will start with Feb 11th we will move on to Feb 25th this is the big one because we put
conversation in there.
Monica: I have some (minor) corrections I’ll just give them to Pam.
M.L.: Well, I would like to know why you put this (discussion about lowering class size for Political
Science classes) in (the minutes), number one, and second of all why you didn’t include to total
votes as done you’ve done with every other class? I want it to say exactly how may yes votes,
opposed, and abstentions votes like every other course and that was left out was there a reason?

M.L.: Page 10

Rich: Okay, on Page 2 we started the discussion. On page 10 we can take a look at what’s there.
We do have (the results) there. It was passed with only one No vote, and 2 abstentions. You want
the total “yes” in there?
M.L.: Yes!
Rich: Okay, we can calculate that and put that in. There were 8 yes votes. I don’t have a problem
doing that. As to your question (of why we included the discussion) we felt this was a significant
discussion issue to put dialog into the minutes.
M.L.: Okay.
Rich: Any other question or concerns?
Let’s take a look at the minutes for March 25th any comments or questions or for the April 8th
meeting?
M.L.: Yes, I would like to know why you didn’t put the transcript in for ANTH 100 and ANTH 115
when it was the same issue.
Rich: We could have but I thought we had pretty much covered the basic issues talking about
Political Science. My recollection was that the discussion for the Anthropology didn’t plow new
territory.
M.L.: Well, from a different point of view if we where to publish the minutes of that meeting, which
showed the arguments made by Anthropology, and the fact that there were comments made from
committee members pointing out the issues was more about lacking of prerequisites than it was for
the class size, and yet the committee still voted in favor in spite of those very weak arguments that
people brought up, (I think it would be important). It seems to me that you’re going to show one
set of minutes, you need to show this set of minutes.
Rich: If people would prefer, we can table these minutes, and go back and create that transcript.
We would have to approve at the beginning of the next school year, but at least it would be in the
record. I don’t have a problem doing that if it is the will of the committee?
M.L.: Unless you can make a compelling argument of why it shouldn’t be in there it looks like a
political act on your behalf to leave that off. I want to be reassured that was not the goal.
Rich: That was not my intention in any way, shape, or form and I am willing to correct the situation
if that is what the committee would like? I see one other yes. It doesn’t matter. I am hearing that
most people don’t feel that is needed for these minutes. Or you would like to see them? Okay, it
looks as though I am miss interpreting. Why don’t we pull these minutes we will table these
minutes is that okay with the person that made the motion and seconded it. (Bellas/Sharp)

Rich: We will have a separate motion to table these. We will exclude it from this motion and then
have the original motion. I don’t have a problem doing that okay.
Rich: The motion then is to approve the minutes for Feb 11, Feb 25 and March 25 with the one
change in putting the yes votes in. Any further discussion? All those in favor by signify by saying
Aye (08), opposed (00), abstentions (00). Approved.
