Project Results:

The development of International Education standards.

The successful completion of five Curricular Experiences

Experience 1: Partnership Sister School in another World Culture

A partnership was established with a Sister School in Northern

Italy. Due to double-booking of sister schools on the part of the connecting organization, this partnership was not fruitful and led to a partially accomplished curricular experience that still taught us a great deal about how to better ensure a successful establishment of such a relationship in the future.

Experience 2: Guest Speakers who have interacted with International Cultures- COMPLETED

Utilizing Fulbright Scholars, multiple classes received international education presentations by guest speakers.

Experience 4: Basic Language Education in International Cultures - COMPLETED

Basic Language Education occurred in select classes in the languages of the cultures being studied: French, Portuguese,

Italian, Spanish, and Pashto.

Experience 5: Field Trip related to Cultural Experience / Globalism - COMPLETED

Field Trips visited the Koshland Science Center’s (Washington

D.C) exhibits on global warming and global infections and the

Walter’s Art Museum’s (Baltimore) exhibits on Egyptian,

Mesopotamian, Roman, and Greek mythology.

Experience 9: The Inclusion of International Theatre Presentations to Students via Classes and

Assembly - COMPLETED

InterACT Story Theatre visited several school classes presenting interactive cultural lessons. InterACT also hosted a student assembly where cultural music, dance and story-telling were showcased.

Experience 10: In-Class Cultural Awareness Instruction by the International Education

Coordinator – COMPLETED

The International Education Coordinator at Martin L. King, Jr.

Middle School visited multiple school classes at the 6 th

, 7 th

, and 8 th grade level, showcasing interactive lessons that increased student interest in understanding in global culture.
