Multidisciplinary Research Program of the University Research Initiative Cyber Deception through Active Leverage of Adversaries' Cognition Process
United States Department of Defense (DOD); The MURI program supports
basic research in science and engineering at U.S. institutions of higher education
that is of potential interest to DoD. The program is focused on multidisciplinary
research efforts where more than one traditional discipline interacts to provide
rapid advances in scientific areas of interest to the DoD. DoD's basic research
program invests broadly in many specific fields to ensure that it has early
cognizance of new scientific knowledge. Objective: To establish a scientific
foundation for modeling adversarial cognitive states and decision-making
processes, identify information metrics for driving cognitive state change by
deception, and create an integrated framework of information composition and
projection to manipulate adversaries' cognitive state and decision-making
process that provides a future basis for active cyber defense. Proposals are due
August 1, 2016. For more information, visit Grants.gov
OJJDP FY 2016 Juvenile Justice Emergency Planning Demonstration Program
Department of Justice (DoJ); Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency
Prevention; The OJJDP FY 2016 Juvenile Justice Emergency Planning
Demonstration Program will provide resources for state, tribal, local, municipal
and community organizations to develop, strengthen and implement emergency
preparedness plans for juvenile justice facilities. These plans should be based
upon the principles outlined in Emergency Planning for Juvenile Justice
Residential Facilities, and should address the specific needs of children, youth,
and families involved in the justice system, during an emergency. Proposals are
due May 31, 2016. For more information, visit Grants.gov

Humanities Initiatives
National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH); NEH Humanities Initiatives at
Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and
Tribal Colleges and Universities are intended to strengthen the teaching and
study of the humanities, in subjects such as history, philosophy, literature,
religion, and the interpretation of the arts. These grants may be used to enhance
existing humanities programs, resources, or courses, or to develop new ones.
Applicants are encouraged to draw on the knowledge of outside scholars who
would contribute expertise and fresh insights to the project. Proposals are due
June 23, 2016. For more information, visit Grants.gov

Elder Justice Innovation Grants
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS); Administration for
Community Living; The purpose of the Elder Justice Innovation Grants program
is to support the development and advancement of new and emerging issues
related to elder justice. Funded projects will contribute to the improvement of
the field of elder abuse prevention and intervention at large, such as by
developing materials, programs, etc that can be widely disseminated and/or
replicated, or by establishing and/or contributing to the evidence-base of
knowledge. For FY 2016, the following have been identified as priority areas:
self-neglect, abuse in guardianship, elder abuse forensic centers, and elder abuse
in Indian Country. Proposals are due June 20, 2016. For more information, visit

Research and Development
National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH); The Research and
Development program supports projects that address major challenges in
preserving or providing access to humanities collections and resources. These
challenges include the need to find better ways to preserve materials of critical
importance to the nation’s cultural heritage—from fragile artifacts and
manuscripts to analog recordings and digital assets subject to technological
obsolescence—and to develop advanced modes of organizing, searching,
discovering, and using such materials. Proposals are due June 21, 2016. For more

National Science Foundation (NSF); Division of Behavioral and Cognitive
Sciences (BCS); The Linguistics Program supports basic science in the domain of
human language, encompassing investigations of the grammatical properties of
individual human languages, and of natural language in general. Research areas
include syntax, semantics, morphology, phonetics, and phonology. The program
encourages projects that are interdisciplinary in methodological or theoretical
perspective, and that address questions that cross disciplinary boundaries.
Proposals are due July 15, 2016. For more information, visit NSF.gov
Research Training Programs in the Education Sciences
Department of Education (DoE); Institutes of Education Sciences (IES); In this
announcement, the Institute of Education Sciences (Institute) describes its
Research Training Programs in the Education Sciences (Research Training)
funded through the National Center for Education Research (NCER). The
training programs aim to prepare individuals to conduct rigorous and relevant
education research that advances knowledge within the field and addresses
issues important to education policymakers and practitioners. Proposals are due
August 4, 2016. For more information, visit Grants.gov
Documenting Endangered Languages
National Science Foundation (NSF); This funding partnership between the
National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Endowment for the
Humanities (NEH) supports projects to develop and advance knowledge
concerning endangered human languages. Made urgent by the imminent death
of roughly half of the approximately 7000 currently used languages, this effort
aims to exploit advances in information technology to build computational
infrastructure for endangered language research. The program supports projects
that contribute to data management and archiving, and to the development of
the next generation of researchers. Funding can support fieldwork and other
activities relevant to the digital recording, documenting, and archiving of
endangered languages, including the preparation of lexicons, grammars, text
samples, and databases. Proposals are due September 15, 2016. For more
information, visit Grants.gov
Science of Science and Innovation Policy
National Science Foundation (NSF); The Science of Science Innovation Policy
(SciSIP) program supports research designed to advance the scientific basis of
science and innovation policy. The program funds research to develop models,
analytical tools, data and metrics that can be applied in the science policy
decision making process and concern the use and allocation of scarce scientific
resources. For example, research proposals may develop behavioral and
analytical conceptualizations, frameworks or models that have applications
across the broad array of science and innovation policy challenges. Proposals
may also develop methodologies to analyze science, technology and innovation
data, and to usefully convey that information to a variety of audiences. Proposals
that create and improve science, engineering and innovation data, including the
design of new metrics and indicators, particularly proposals that demonstrate
the viability of collecting and analyzing data on knowledge generation and
innovation in organizations, are encouraged. Proposals are due September 9,
2016. For more information, visit Grants.gov
