coping with an often confusing and daunting disease that generally onsets at a
young age. Our approach is from a place of holistic health, community support
and most of all having a good time! Pulp Nature is the only lifestyle website
focused on people living with autoimmune diseases.
Duties include building articles, slideshows and blog posts in Wordpress,
conducting research, prepping stories for syndication, compiling daily news,
writing original content for the site. There is ample opportunity to pitch stories at
weekly meetings with the small staff. Plenty of opportunity to post articles under
your own BYLINE. This is a remote opportunity.

Description:
Akashic Books is looking for unpaid, part-time interns to work in our
dynamic Brooklyn office. Interns work 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for either two or
three days each week.
Primary responsibilities include reading and evaluating manuscripts for
potential publication; inputting copyedits and creating publicity materials
using Adobe InDesign; maintaining press kits and publicity materials for
new titles; conducting research to build our various databases; fulfilling
all publicity mailings and Internet orders; and general office tasks.
We don't have "departments" at Akashic, and the office environment
affords our interns the opportunity to participate in a wide range of tasks
that run the gamut from editorial to publicity -- and everywhere in
between. We do stress try to stress that the editorial side of the job
comprises a minority of the work that anyone does in the office (full-time
staff included), as we're all mostly dealing with the nuts-and-bolts nittygritty details and administrative aspects of running a small business. We
do work very closely with our authors (publishing is after all a
collaborative process), and our interns often have the opportunity to meet
with a number of them over the course of a season.
Length of Internship: Year-round by season (see below for application deadlines).
Requirements:
Basic requirements: solid writing and research skills; attention to detail;
ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced
and collaborative small office environment.
