December 2nd, 2014
Dear Forensics Coach:
We hope you and your speech team will be able to join us on Saturday, February 7th, 2015
for the 38th annual UW-Eau Claire Invitational Speech Tournament. We will be offering the
following WFCA events (Demonstration Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Farrago,
Four Minute Speaking, Group Interpretation, Moments in History, Oratory, Play
Acting, Poetry, Prose, Radio Announcing, Solo Acting, Special Occasion Speaking,
Storytelling, and Duo Interpretation) with the exception that one 4 X 6 note card will be
allowed in Oratory, and that chairs may be used in Solo and Group Interpretation in keeping
with WHSFA rules. In addition, we will also be offering WHSFA’s Public Address. For
the exact WFCA rules please go to www.wfcaforensics.org. For the differences between the
two, we are attaching a page towards the end of the invite.
As is our tradition, we promise to offer first-rate competition, a friendly campus, and a
convenient schedule. We will also be headquartered in DAVIES STUDENT CENTER. We
will offer four preliminary rounds and no finals, with competition and awards finished by
5:00 pm. Awards will be given for the top six students in each event, and to the top five
schools. TEAM SWEEPS WILL BE BASED ON THE TOP FIVE STUDENTS IN EACH
EVENT. As always, your students will be welcome to enjoy lunch in the Davies Center at
any of the facilities after the fourth round and before awards.
The following pages will give you all the details of the tournament and how to enter. If there
is any way we can be of help, please give us a call. We look forward to seeing you, and
providing a stimulating and comfortable competitive setting for your students.
See you on February 7th!
Sincerely,

General Information
ENTRIES
You may enter as many students as you wish in this tournament, and each student may enter a maximum of two
events. Students should be aware that all events will run at the same time, and it will be their responsibility to
get to both events each round (judges will be instructed to excuse double-entered students as they leave rounds
early or enter rounds late). Please inform your double entered students to sign into the round to let the judge
know ahead of time that they are double entered and need to go at the beginning of the round in order to get to
their other event.
FEES
Each entry is $6.00 – entries for Group Interpretation and Play Acting are $10.00. Schools should attempt to
provide one judge for every SIX (6) entries or fraction thereof. Judging fees for all entries not covered by
judges will be $12.00. Fees can be paid by mail or at the time of registration. PLEASE MAKE CHECKS
PAYABLE TO PI KAPPA DELTA.
DEADLINES
We must have your entry by Tuesday, February 4th, before 5:00pm. In order to provide your students with a
fully prepared schematic, we must close all entries at this time. Fees will be assessed at this time regardless of
drops or changes. TO ENTER: CALL (715) 836-3305 or EMAIL your entry to morriskr@uwec.edu.
PLEASE INCLUDE A TEAM ROSTER WITH YOUR REGISTRATION (NAMES OF THOSE
ENTERED IN THE EVENTS) . We will email your school code to confirm your entry.
DROPS IN ENTRY
No matter how late in the week, please call in any drops in your entry. Though you will still be charged for the
entry after Tuesday at 5:00 pm, let us know as soon as possible so that we can make the appropriate changes in
the schematic. IF WE CAN GET DROPS PRIOR TO REGISTRATION ON SATURDAY, THEN
REGISTRATION WILL RUN ON TIME AND THE OPENING ASSEMBLY WILL RUN SMOOTHLY
AND BALLOTS WILL BE READY FOR YOU SOONER.
BALLOT TABLE
The ballot table will be located in the third floor of the Davies Student Center. Please pick-up and drop off your
ballots prior to each round. Messages about drops for your round will be attached to your ballots for that round.
The presence of a ballot table will make the tournament run smoothly.
