* One of the courses taken during the first semester, preferably one of the history surveys, must be a Rowan Seminar course.
** Students may fulfill the language requirement by completing higher level foreign language course, e.g. students who pass
Intermediate Spanish II do not need to take lower level Spanish courses. Preferably, students will take at least 4 semesters of
one language, but they may also take 2 semesters of 2 languages.
*** See the General Education course guide,
http://www.rowan.edu/provost/registrar/forms/5%20%20General%20Education%20InformationSP2012.pdf, for a list of courses that
fulfill this requirement.
+300-400 global history course: a course that focuses on the history of regions, countries, and topics related to Africa, Asia,
Latin America, Middle East, and Russia, or Global Topics in History
Note: history courses are distributed according to level, but there is no prescribed order for general education or (after passing
Historical Methods) upper level history courses. The above is just an example. We suggest that students take a mixture of
history and Gen Ed/elective courses in all semesters. Students should utilize their elective courses to pursue their professional
and/or personal interests, and consider earning minors and concentrations that will help them achieve their professional goals.
