59-B-12 Passed 29-0-1 2-8-16 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-EAU CLAIRE STUDENT SENATE CLASSIFI CATION __ UPDATING THE STUDENT SENATE BYLAWS TO __________ REFLECT NEW PAYROLL POLICIES______________________________________________ ___ ____________ ________ _____ NUMBER 59-B-12 DATE INTRODUCED BY February 1, 2016 JACOB WRASSE,_STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT __________ 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 _ ____ __________________ WHEREAS, the Student Senate Bylaws define the structure of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate; and WHEREAS, the Bylaws also enumerate policies pertaining to, among other items, payroll for Senate employees; and WHEREAS, UW-Eau Claire Human Resources has scaled back the total number of students receiving lump sum payments on this campus; and WHEREAS, the UW system has implemented new student payroll policies to be compliant with the Affordable Care Act; and 9 WHEREAS, these changes have shifted the method of payment and total 10 number of allowed student work hours for sixteen of Student Senate’s twenty-six 11 student employees; and 12 13 WHEREAS, the changes identified in Attachment “A” reflect appropriate amendments to the Student Senate Bylaws to codify these changes; 14 BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate adopt 15 the changes to the Student Senate Bylaws presented in Attachment “A” with 16 immediate effect; and 17 18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these changes shall supersede any vestigial mentions of past Senate payroll practices in other documents; and 19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, in addition to the adopted changes, the 20 Senate will continue to update its payroll practices to remain compliant with all 21 levels of federal, state, and campus policies; and 22 BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that upon passage, President Wrasse transmit a 23 copy of this bill to Dr. James Schmidt, Chancellor; Dr. Patricia Kleine, Provost/Vice 24 Chancellor; Dr. Beth Hellwig, Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs; Dr. Joseph Abhold, 25 Dean of Students; Mitch Freymiller, Chair, University Senate; Kristen Hendrickson, 26 Director, Budget and Resource Planning; and David Miller, Director, Human 27 Resources.
