You are the fellow who makes up your mind Whether you’ll lead or linger behindWhether you’ll try for the goal that’s afar Or be contented to stay just where you are. Take it or leave it. Here’s something to do Just think it over. It’s all up to you! What do you wish? To be known as a shirk Or known as a good man who’s willing to work? Scorned for a loafer or praised by your chief, Rich man, poor man, beggar or thief? Eager and earnest or dull through the day? Honest or crooked? It’s you who must say! You must decide in the face of the test Whether you’ll shirk it or give it your best. GOOD RULES Twelve rules we should keep. 1. Make few promises. 2. Always speak the truth. 3. Never speak evil of anyone. 4. Keep good company or none. 5. Never play games of chance 6. Drink no intoxicating drinks. 7. Remember good character is above everything else. 8. Keep your own secrets, if you have any. 9. Never borrow if you can possibly help it. 10. Do not marry until you are able to support a wife. 11. Keep yourself honest if you would be happy 12. When you speak to a person, look him in the eyes. NEW BEGINNINGS; How often we wish for another chance To make a fresh beginning, A chance to blot out our mistakes And change failure into winning And it does not take a new year To make a brand new start, It only takes the deep desire To try with all our heart To live a little better And to always be forgiving And to add a little “sunshine” To the world in which we’re living So never give up in despair And think that you are through For there’s always a tomorrow And a chance to start a new. Ornela Edimo SS1A Nigeria has struck gold And everywhere the story is told Of the labor of our heroes past To set a legacy that will ever last. If we reflect on our yesterday We’ll see there’s still a long way to Before we attained our desired status And be guided by national consensus We’ve faced monumental challenges And experienced adverse changes We’ve been ruled by leaders Who are nothing but users. Yet if we summon resilience, Stop the fight for eminence And uphold justice and equity We’ll experience unity in our diversity. Let’s continue in our determination To fight the villain; corruption And build a nation prosperous and strong Founded on what’s right and not what’s wrong. Sss3a JOY Joy is better than happiness More lovelier than anything But only for a wise person Joy can be found in a wise Person’s life not in a fool’s Life Every one pays for happiness But a wise person prays For a joyful thing Happiness is the half Sister of joy, but the most Brilliant and good one is joy Joy lasts forever but happiness Is for a while No one cries for happiness, But cry for joy, Happiness comes, When a new car arrives, but Stays for a while But joy comes no Matter the situation You’re in. Damilola Michael SS1 THREE FOOLISH MEN Three men Ibrahim, Segun, and Okeke went on ad adventure on the Cameroon mountains. Ibrahim is a Hausa man, Segun a Yoruba and Okeke an Ibo man. The trio was strictly warned not to mention the word. “FIRE” in the Cameroons. When they got to Boea, a district close to the mountains, Segun the Yoruba man wondered why they were strictly warned not to say “FIRE”. So he asked his colleagues “Why were we asked not to say ‘fire’? Immediately Segun joined his ancestors. The remaining two men Ibrahim and Okeke continued their journey hurriedly. Okeke, the Iboman tried to explain the cause of the sudden death of Segun to Ibrahim as they went on in a hurry. Okeke said “Ibrahim, you see, Segun died because he mentioned the word “Fire”! Okeke died in a split second. Ibrahim was amazed. He fled the scene. However, he decided to thank his ancestors for keeping him alive, so he said,”Sanu, Baba Mutum, I was not foolish to say Fire?
