IT’S UP TO YOU
You are the fellow who has to decide
Whether you’ll do it or toss it aside.
You are the fellow who makes up your mind
Whether you’ll lead or linger behindWhether you’ll try for the goal that’s afar
Or be contented to stay just where you are.
Take it or leave it. Here’s something to do
Just think it over. It’s all up to you!
What do you wish? To be known as a shirk
Or known as a good man who’s willing to work?
Scorned for a loafer or praised by your chief,
Rich man, poor man, beggar or thief?
Eager and earnest or dull through the day?
Honest or crooked? It’s you who must say!
You must decide in the face of the test
Whether you’ll shirk it or give it your best.
GOOD RULES
Twelve rules we should keep.
1. Make few promises.
2. Always speak the truth.
3. Never speak evil of anyone.
4. Keep good company or none.
5. Never play games of chance
6. Drink no intoxicating drinks.
7. Remember good character is above everything else.
8. Keep your own secrets, if you have any.
9. Never borrow if you can possibly help it.
10. Do not marry until you are able to support a wife.
11. Keep yourself honest if you would be happy
12. When you speak to a person, look him in the eyes.
NEW BEGINNINGS;
How often we wish for another chance
To make a fresh beginning,
A chance to blot out our mistakes
And change failure into winning
And it does not take a new year
To make a brand new start,
It only takes the deep desire
To try with all our heart
To live a little better
And to always be forgiving
And to add a little “sunshine”
To the world in which we’re living
So never give up in despair
And think that you are through
For there’s always a tomorrow
And a chance to start a new.
NATURE
Nature, you are one of God’s creature
Which gives us many resources
To bring out his picture
Gotten from different sources
Nature, you bring to us
Joy and happiness at the sight
Of God’s wonderful creatures
And its beauty
It’s beauty can be seen in plants by day
And at night in the moon and stars
You differentiate light from darkness
With terror and gladness
It offers us a suitable atmosphere and climate
For our health and stability
It beautifies our environment with
Its trees, rivers and flowers
And gives us a happy home
Nature, if you were to be absent on earth
Men wouldn’t have gotten the joy and pleasure
They derive in you
Nature, you are wonderful
LIFE
Life a most welcome guest
Coming with gifts a joy and happiness
To the home he visits
He leaves laughter and happiness
As a farewell greeting
A part of life filled with enthusiasm
Even the most bitter hearts are gripped
With happiness by his appearance
He builds the dreams of
His hosts
A very important part of nature
That cannot be over emphasized
A visible beauty of nature
That increased the curiosity
Of scientists and biologists
Life! If only you could last forever--------What joy and happiness we could have
Seeing our loved ones
With us in your experience

Occasionally I talk with people
People who do nothing
But give up themselves
And
Never receive from anyone else
And caring not only bonds teachers and learners
But teaches valuable lessons
About life just from being
In contact with you
The longer I remain in my profession
The more I realize
How much I can receive from those
Who come to me for help
Something about the process of sharing

ACTION
It speaks even more loudly
Than the things we say
But if we act with anger
We’ve got to pay
It is undeniable
That we have we make ourselves valuable
There will be a good end
So unfair, life may seem
But the wicked just sit
And watch it like a film
Bringing their victims into a huge
How can we re correct our paths
When we claim to make no mistake
And deny our paths
In the pain we make
Action
A thing you’ve got to care
That you might not lead to destruction
And rely on others, your pain to share.

Nigeria has struck gold
And everywhere the story is told
Of the labor of our heroes past
To set a legacy that will ever last.
If we reflect on our yesterday
We’ll see there’s still a long way to
Before we attained our desired status
And be guided by national consensus
We’ve faced monumental challenges
And experienced adverse changes
We’ve been ruled by leaders
Who are nothing but users.
Yet if we summon resilience,
Stop the fight for eminence
And uphold justice and equity
We’ll experience unity in our diversity.
Let’s continue in our determination
To fight the villain; corruption
And build a nation prosperous and strong
Founded on what’s right and not what’s wrong.

JOY
Joy is better than happiness
More lovelier than anything
But only for a wise person
Joy can be found in a wise
Person’s life not in a fool’s
Life
Every one pays for happiness
But a wise person prays
For a joyful thing
Happiness is the half
Sister of joy, but the most
Brilliant and good one is joy
Joy lasts forever but happiness
Is for a while
No one cries for happiness,
But cry for joy,
Happiness comes,
When a new car arrives, but
Stays for a while
But joy comes no
Matter the situation
You’re in.

THREE FOOLISH MEN
Three men Ibrahim, Segun, and Okeke went on ad
adventure on the Cameroon mountains. Ibrahim is a
Hausa man, Segun a Yoruba and Okeke an Ibo man.
The trio was strictly warned not to mention the word.
“FIRE” in the Cameroons. When they got to Boea, a
district close to the mountains, Segun the Yoruba man
wondered why they were strictly warned not to say
“FIRE”. So he asked his colleagues “Why were we asked
not to say ‘fire’? Immediately Segun joined his ancestors.
The remaining two men Ibrahim and Okeke continued
their journey hurriedly. Okeke, the Iboman tried to
explain the cause of the sudden death of Segun to Ibrahim
as they went on in a hurry. Okeke said “Ibrahim, you see,
Segun died because he mentioned the word “Fire”! Okeke
died in a split second. Ibrahim was amazed. He fled the
scene. However, he decided to thank his ancestors for
keeping him alive, so he said,”Sanu, Baba Mutum, I was
not foolish to say Fire? He too collapsed and died
instantly.

HOME
Home is the place your heart resides
Home is the place that you decide
Home is the womb that holds the soul
Home is the place where one is whole
Home is the glow you hold in your eye
Home is the emotion that makes you cry
Home is safe and a place of peace
Home is where all strivings cease
Home is protective against the others
Home is full of sisters and brothers
Home is where you find your rest
Home is where you feel your best
Home is a memory that follows your being
Home is a dream for those agreeing
Home is the place where reserves fall
Home is the place you yearn to call
Home is where the family meets
Home is a place of restful retreats
Home is the place you know you’ll be heard
Home is the pace where nothing blurs
Home is all these wonderful things
Home is the place you develop wings
Home is the place that you’ll find one day
Home is the place where your heart will stay

Clothing is not important
Houses, cars and bank accounts
None of these things are important
You know what is important?
Knowledge and hard work
The abilities that allow you
To acquire things
You want to know what’s important
Here is how you figure it out
Just let someone take all
Things away from you
Like money, cars and houses
They can take them
But you can get them back
If you have the appropriate knowledge
And learn to use it
But if someone takes away your knowledge
And your willingness to give your best
You’ve automatically lost everything
Everything that is important
And you won’t get them back
