Building Facilities Cleaning Operations
Service Level Standard
This service covers:




Core cleaning services, including waste removal.
Scheduled floor maintenance.
Scheduled ‘Spring Cleaning’
Specific cleaning requests e.g. carpets, spillage
clearance.
Service provision details:
The service will be provided during the following times:
Monday to Thursday 7.00am to 3.30 pm,
Friday 7.00am to 3.00pm.
The operational standards:
Daily: Thorough clean daily.
Daily / 2 or 3 Times / Week: Clear rubbish and litter pick daily. Thorough clean once weekly. Spot clean 2 or 3 times per week.
Daily /Weekly: Clear waste daily and litter pick. Thorough clean once per week.
6 Weekly: Floor maintenance of hard floor surfaces.
Periodically/requested: Cleaning, scheduled by the Supervisor, in addition to routine cleaning. A specific list of the cleaning tasks
can be obtained from Building Facilities on request. Requests for additional cleaning should be made through the appropriate
Supervisor (see below). Cleaning required outside of normal operating hours will be recharged at a fixed cost per hour.

Our obligation to the customer
1 We will endeavour to meet the target responses given above
which are those for which we are budgeted.
2 We will give a minimum of one week notice of any invasive
procedures that will limit or restrict access to an area.
3 We will work with you to meet deadlines for specific cleaning
request subject to satisfactory notice being given by you.
4 In the event of any complaint or query you should first contact
the Cleaning Supervisor who will try to resolve the problem to
your satisfaction If necessary you will be notified of whom you
can contact to progress the matter.
5 All operatives will wear a Newcastle University, Building
Facilities, uniform whilst carrying out their job role
6 All operatives will be trained in Health and Safety pertaining to
the job role and also to Newcastle University Practical Skills
standards
Customer obligations
1 You will allow access at any reasonable time to carry out
cleaning operations.
2 You will provide reasonable notice of any event that requires
us to adjust our cleaning schedules
3 You will treat our staff with courtesy and respect.
4 You will provide reasonable notice for any additional service
requirement, and will reimburse us for any out of hour’s
requirements.
