Administrator role
A user with administrator role has the possibility to

Set up user roles
Set up survey permissions
Only a few people should have this role

Edit reference data role
A user with this role has the possibility to
• Add new categories in reference tables (dropdown lists, ex boat types)
• Modify existing categories (except SPC ones)
• Hide existing categories from dropdown lists
Adding a lot of categories can mess up the database so restrict this role to people
in charge of survey supervision/data analysis.

Survey admin role
A user with this role has the possibility to
• Creating surveys
• Modifying survey properties
• Setting up survey user rights
A user with survey admin role has admin rights by default on the surveys he/she
create. He won’t be able to modify properties of surveys created by other people
unless given permission to do so.

Survey data entry role
A user with this role has the possibility to
• Entering data sheets for a survey
• Deleting existing data sheets from a survey
A user with survey admin rights for a survey has also data entry rights
In addition to the role, the user must have permission for a particular survey to be
allowed to add or modify data for that survey

Survey data query role
A user with this role has the possibility to
• Run queries and export results
