INSTRUMENT OF GOVERNMENT: VOLUNTARY AIDED SCHOOLS
1.
The name of the school is Beis Yaakov High School for Girls, Salford.
2.
The school is a voluntary aided school.
3.
The name of the governing body is The Governing Body of the Beis Yaakov High
School for Girls, Salford.
4.
The governing body shall consist of:
a)
1 parent governor;
b)
1 LEA governor;
c)
3 staff governors;
d)
7 foundation governors (three of which must be parent foundation

Total number of governors will be 12.

The Foundation Governors shall be appointed and may be removed by the Trustees
of the Jewish High School for Girls (Registered Charity no 526063)

The school is a Voluntary Aided School with a religious character that will operate in
accordance with the following ethos statement:
The school was founded by and is part of the Orthodox Jewish community of
Manchester. The original trust deed is dated 21st November 1962. The school is to be
conducted, and pupils and their parents are to conduct themselves, in accordance
with Orthodox Jewish traditions and practices as prescribed by the Shulchan Aruch
and its commentaries. Any question as to the interpretation or definition of Orthodox
Jewish traditions and practices or Jewish law so prescribed will be determined by the
Presiding Rabbi for the time being of the Manchester Machzikei Hadass Beth Din.
