SALFORD CITY COUNCIL - RECORD OF DECISION I, Councillor Merry, Leader of the Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Paragraph J (a) (i) of the Scheme of Delegation of the Council, do hereby approve the appointment of Salford City Council Environmental Services to order lamp post baskets and planters for installation along Cromwell Road. In addition to this SCC Environmental Services will also provide watering for the baskets for a period of 17 weeks. (Local suppliers are currently being approached to supply plants for hanging baskets that will be made available to residents.) The reasons are that the Charlestown and Lower Kersal in Bloom project aims to improve the visual appearance of the NDC area, by focusing on the main route ways and neighbourhoods in the area. The project will help to create a better image of, and create increased community pride in, the area. SCC Environmental Services have provided a quotation to carry out the above work, which has been approved by the Physical and Environmental Focus Group and the NDC Appraisal Panel. Options considered and rejected were that alternative watering arrangements were considered through buying a water carrier and using volunteers. Difficulties with regard to insurance and storage prevented this option. The source of funding is New Deal for Communities The following documents have been used to assist the decision process.
