APPROVAL OF TENDER - IMPROVEMENTS TO ECCLES
RECREATION GROUND AND ALBERT PARK, SALFORD

RECOMMENDATIONS:
That, subject to authorization from Lead Member, Customer and Support
Services to expend the capital; approval be given to award the contract for
improvements to Eccles Recreation Ground and Albert Park to the contractor
who returned the lowest tender - Tenderer No 1. Pacific Landscapes Ltd

DETAILS:
This project forms part of the New Opportunities Funded Fairshare Programme
- City Parks and Play Project. In addition the Eccles Recreation Ground element
of the scheme benefits from £17,000 of planning gain.
The proposed improvements have been agreed with the Friends of Eccles
Recreation Ground, Eccles Open Spaces Group, Eccles Community
Committee, Albert Park Residents Association, East Salford Neighbourhood
team.
At Eccles Recreation Ground the existing under 8’s play equipment is out dated
and lacks any type of safety surface. Opportunities for play are extremely
limited. In addition the existing street-hockey pitch sited on a disused tennis
courts is derelict and no longer used.
The proposed works at Eccles Recreation Ground consist of removal of derelict
play equipment (including street hockey), installation of new equipment, wetpour safety-surfacing, street furniture, self-closing gates and a multi-sports
facility.
At Albert Park the works consist of the installation of a multisports facility on the
derelict tennis courts.

Authorisation has previously been given to seek tenders in accordance with
Salford City Council’s Rules of Procedure.
Amounts tendered for the works and received by the closing date (31st August)
and opened by Customer and Support Services in the presence of Cllr. Bill
Hinds on the 1st September are as follows:
