ANNUAL LETTER 2003/2004
Dear Mrs. Thomas,
I refer to your letter dated 22nd June, 2004, which the Chief Executive has requested that I
reply to on his behalf. I confirm that the City Council welcomes the Annual Letter and cannot
identify any further information, which would be useful to us. The Council considers that the
Letter meets the objectives set out in the bullet points in the second paragraph of the letter.
In respect of training, the Council considers it is an important part of the Ombudsman’s role
to increase the amount of training currently on offer. However, as you are aware, this
Council has been waiting for some time, following the adverse report referred to in the Letter,
for training on complaint investigations. I wonder whether sufficient resources are available
to meet a greater demand for training within your office.
