A midwife referred this family to the children cenrtre. Family have housing and benefits issues and ccw followed their
concerns by arranging a home visit on 1/5/13 to complete a pre-caf

Married couple ,husband been in England 7 yrs and is working ,he has 2 part time jobs ,He works at Salford
University and at Manchester Airport in catering. Wife has been in England since February 2013 and is expecting
their first child. Couple are living in a room which has a bed , table and 2 chairs, cooker sink and washing machine
with a door leading to the toilet and shower .They have a 6 month tenacey agreement and have been informed by
the landlord that they need to move as this place is not suitable to bring up a child.Mother herself is feeling very
isolated and frustrated living eating and sleeping in the same room.

Mother is pregnant with her first child, I have taken mother to
register at the dentist and informed her that while she is pregnant
and until the child is 1yr old her dentist treatment should be free
unless stated otherwise accordlingly to her visa status.Katy was
concerned about the excessive amount of saliva she was producing,
she was assured by her midwife who checked her blood that this
was normal. Katy was getting server pains at the beginning of her
pregnancy and thought it was an eptopic pregnancy but after test
she was informed it was a small fiboid. Her husband informed us
that her appertiate is improving and encourgese her to eat nutrional
food. Advice was given about eye test and I was informed that they
had eye test in India before they came to England as they were
aware of the high cost here.Family are registered with a doctor and
Katy comes in to see the midwife reguarly. As we are aware the
pregnancy is uneventful.

Katy wants to keep active but feels tired . Pauline is keen to learn
Computer skills and craft sessions were discussed and I have
enrolled her on to a computer course at The Hub and introuduced
her to a womens group who are involved in a craft and sewing.
Pregnancy is normal ,her scan date is May 13 ,she comes in to see
the midwife reguarly.

Katy and her husband speak English and Konkani.Mother is keen
that her child speaks Konkani ,and father feels that now that they
are living in England that English should be its first language They
are in agreement that both languages will be taught.

Parents very surprised at first that when they found out that Katy is
pregnant. Both parents feel a very strong attachment to their unborn
child . Father encourges mother to eat well and drink plenty of milk
Mother was feeling sick and naseaus at first ,especially as she has
to cook, eat and sleep in the same one room. As her husband is
working Katy feels very isolated and they told me they do not have
friends or family members living nearby.

In convesation Dad said that it is postive parenting to be calm
resuring and tolerant and does not believe that being physical or
violent, this he says does not teach a child anything, Parents
inform us that they have a good relationship and communicate
together with each other on their decisions.

Dad view is that now that they are living in this country they should
live accordingly to the British culture and will discuss this with his
wife. Father educated as a barrister in Goa .

All of both parents family live in Goa and Portugal apart from
Aaron's uncle who lives in London. He informs us that they do not
meet up reguarly but speak to each other everyday on the phone.
Aaron and Katy go the the Church reguarly and do have a few
friends.

Both parents would like their child to have a good education. I
informed Katy about the sure start services that would be available
to her and explained to her about how much it would benefit her
and her child.

Aaron is working,although he has informed us that he has been
asked to take a pay cut and and now is working less hours. Katy
would like to gain employment in the future. have infomed Katy
about the computer classes and will inform her of courses that
would be suitable for her. Both parents understand the need for their
child to have a good education.

on the computer course, and both parents will support their child
with it's education.

Both parents have ambition they have spoken to me about wanting
better accomadation to live in ,they feel that life would be much
easier if they had good jobs perhaps in the future they would think
about having their own business and their own transport.

At present family is living in a room with a bed ,table ,chairs washing
machine, cooker and fridge. and a door leading to the toilet and
shower.
Couple says they are coping at the moment although Katy says living
,sleeping cooking in the same room makes her feel sick as the smell
of cooking lingers all day long. landlord has tod them they need to
move out before the baby is born. The place is not suitable to have a
child there.

each other everyday. Aaron has 2 jobs in catering and Katy want to
