Easy Extra Credit
In light of the recent revelation that our grades were not the most outstanding,
What better to create than a machine that gives us extra credit without ever
Having to attend another exciting lecture!
Project Summary




First a ball is dropped onto the
see-saw raising the pole.
The pole lifts the end of the cup
releasing another “extra credit”
ball
The ball rolls down the ramp and
hits the ramp becoming projectile
The ball is “caught” and placed in
the container for extra credit
Issues
Ramp was originally too flimsy
 The wood was not well supported
 Duct tape was not as versatile as we
originally predicted.
 Original idea of making a mixed powder
drink was messy and unsuccessful

Energy Conversions
Potential to kinetic dropping the ball to lift
the pole.
 Kinetic energy tilts the cup
 The cup releases the ball down the ramp
changing potential energy to kinetic
energy
 The ball is then “caught” as a collision
transfers the energy and causes the ball to
drop into the container

Conclusion
Through clever conversion of energy we
used gravity to create an easy way of
catching a tennis ball for extra credit
