UTA Retirees’ Club Minutes for December 11, 2012
The meeting was held in the Carlisle Suite of the E. H. Hereford University Center. Everyone enjoyed coffee and pastries prior to the
program.
Announcements:
Frank Gault welcomed everyone and introduced his guest Kathleen Anderson. Ms. Anderson is the new Development Director for the
College of Education. Harley Courtney reminded us that the January 8, 2013, meeting will be a tour of the Special Sections on the 6th
floor of the UTA Library. Frank announced that Bill Stegall from the Art Department recently passed away.
Program:
Harley introduced our program, a musical quartet from UTA’s Music Department: Elizabeth Morrow, cello, voice; Andrew Leverenz,
voice; George Chave, composer, banjo, piano, voice; and Jing Ling Tam, drum, piano, voice. They performed the following selections:
16th century Italian madrigal
“Where is Fantasy”, a madrigal by George Chave
“Wayfaring Stranger”, folksong
“Take These Lips Away” a madrigal by George Chave
“My Friends All Left Me”, a Bach fugue
“O Come, O Come Emmanuel”, a carol
Spiritual performed by Jing Ling Tam (piano, voice)
“No Christmas in Kentucky”, a 60’s song by Phil Ochs (Elizabeth Morrow, voice; George Chave, banjo)
German song selection (quartet all singing)
Hebrew/Spanish song celebrating the menorah (Elizabeth Morrow, cello; George Chave, piano; Jing Ling Tam, drum; Andrew
Leverenz, voice)
