Job Title (code): Executive Director (0344) Purpose Purpose: The Executive Director of International Education serves as the senior international officer for the university. The individual provides strategic vision and administrative oversight for Study Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services and International Programs. Essential Functions Function 1: Provides administrative leadership to the Director of Study Abroad and the Director of International Student and Scholar Services. 35 % Time Function 2: Collaborates with the Provost, Deans, Chairs and Directors to develop International Initiatives consistent with the University's mission, including the management of existing and development of new cooperation agreements with international institutions. 20 % Time Function 3: Provides budgetary oversight and resource allocation for the Office of International Education. 15 % Time Function 4: Assists the Provost with management of the International Oversight Committee to mitigate risk for students, faculty and staff with interest in traveling to restricted regions. Maintains appropriate documentation of committee's decisions and reports to appropriate UT System entities. 10 % Time Function 5: Develops and manages an international student recruitment strategy, both locally and abroad. 10 % Time Function 6: Develops policies and procedures for assisting international students and scholars and their families in crisis. 5 % Time Function 7: Handles special projects as assigned by the Provost. 5 % Time Function 8: % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Education, International Relations, or other related field. 7 to 10 years of progressive leadership and management experience in an international education office, developing and implementing university policies to meet federal reporting and compliance requirements pertaining to international students and scholars. 3 to 5 years experience developing and managing an international student recruitment program. Significant experience assessing international travel risk for faculty, staff and students. A record of recognized professional achievement and the ability to work with a broad base of constituents including government agencies, alumni, donors, international dignitaries, and academic leaders. Preferred Qualifications: Significant experience with SEVIS, People Soft, ImageNow, AdvisorTrac, and StudioAbroad. Familiarity with the educational policies of the Higher Education Coordinating Board of Texas, including but not limited to policies governing study abroad. Significant experience living and working abroad. Proven ability to communicate with individuals from a wide variety of cultures and ethnic groups. Proven ability to manage and supervise a staff of student services professionals and administrative support staff. Understanding and sensitivity to the special needs of international students and scholars, especially during crisis. Proven ability to coordinate services and communications both domestically and abroad with families, government agencies, insurance companies, and travel assistance partners.
