Plumber Supervisor Job Description TITLE: Plumber Supervisor JOB CODE: 5215 EFFECTIVE DATE: FLSA STATUS: NE EEO6 CODE: 6 = Skilled Crafts PURPOSE: To supervise the installation, remodeling, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems. Responsible for planning, laying out and supervising plumbing work on job sites and in the shop. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, assigns and supervises the work of Plumbers and helpers in installation, repair and maintenance of water, air, gas, sewer and sump pump systems. Supervises and inspects the installation and repair of pipes, sinks, traps, toilet fixtures, drains, special laboratory sinks and tables, hot water units, heaters and kitchen equipment. Prepares plans and sketches. Estimates time and materials necessary for jobs. Orders materials and supplies. Performs related duties as required. Supervises inventory of materials and equipment. Prepares reports. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: Minimal supervision after review of operational effectiveness with specific instructions from the Superintendent of Buildings. Work assignments are received in the form of work orders, sometimes accompanied by prints, sketches or oral instructions. Work is performed in accordance with standard trade practices. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: General supervision to Plumber Leader and Plumbers. REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or 3 years experience. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Seven years of skilled/journey-level experience including two years in a supervisory capacity. Valid Texas drivers license required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to use acetylene torches, pipe benders, cutters, and threaders, wrenches, blueprints, and other tools common to the plumbing trade. Ability to use a backhoe is preferred. In estimating materials and labor requirements. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involve exposure to weather elements. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and others.
