Assistant Director Purpose Purpose: Directs the accounting and financial areas of the Division for Enterprise Development. Essential Functions Function 1: Directs, manages, plans, and coordinates the accounting and finance operations of the Division for Enterprise Development (DED). Serves as backup for the Executive Director Finance and Administration and manages HR and contract issues in his absence. 20 % Time Function 2: Supervises, trains, directs and reviews the work of accounting, coordinator and administrative DED staff. Provides direction in accounting and finance matters to DED program staff in all of the Division's business units. 20 % Time Function 3: Prepares the annual operating budgets for the Division's business units, monitors and forecasts budget utilization by DED programs, and initiates budget revisions. Develops numerous regular and ad-hoc financial reports for the Division. 15 % Time Function 4: Directs grant accounts budgeting procedure for the Division, works with DED business units and accounting departments on campus to implement budgets, budget adjustments, amendments and grant closeout. 30 % Time Function 5: Formulates, implements and maintains a cohesive set of accounting policies and procedures for the Division. Directs policy manual updates and communicates the results to the Division at large. Ensures compliance with University policies and applicable local, state and federal requirements. Responsible for preparing for the Division's audits. 10 % Time Function 6: Participates and advises in the Division's strategic planning processes to meet all financial and accounting requirements. 5 % Time Function 7: % Time Function 8: % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other functions as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Masters Degree and 7 years relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Define and Aceware.
