Responsible for the effective disposition of payroll responsibilities and for staff proficiency, effectiveness, and development. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide managerial support for maintenance of the payroll office. Administer the processing and disbursement of the UTA payroll in accordance and compliance with all UTA, UT System, state and federal policies, rules, and regulations. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of disbursements of payroll and the collections and deposits or authorized payroll deductions. Ensure accuracy of payroll database. ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: Assistant Comptroller for Accounting Services SUPERVISON: Assistant Director Payroll Services INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provide reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulation, policies, and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS : Extended hours as necessary. Frequent travel. Office environment. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business. Professional certification preferred.
