Communications Assistant Purpose Purpose: Provides a broad range of communications support for the School of Social Work Research and Community Outreach Office including writing and editing, project planning, and/or education/promotion activities. Responsible for researching and generating ideas to develop high quality, creative materials. Essential Functions Function 1: Responsible for producing internal and external communication literature to promote and inform on the research productivity of the school. 20 % Time Function 2: Develop website content, including stories, articles, designs, videos as well as social media content. 15 % Time Function 3: Coordinates and archives faculty award nomination materials including supporting documents. 5 % Time Function 4: Develop and execute an integrated communications plan for the SSW and serve as the media contact including the dissemination of SSW accomplishments regarding SSW's performance against peers and aspirants. 15 % Time Function 5: Develop marketing/communication campaigns for SSW research projects, initiatives and centers including assisting faculty with identifying and connecting with media outlets. 15 % Time Function 6: Assist with all aspects of report generation including the use of data, text, and graphics to convey and archive SSW productivity. 15 % Time Function 7: Design and maintain (in coordination with others) all communication materials such as the SSW website, the college e-newsletter, annual reports, student handbooks, recruitment materials and other targeted projects. 15 % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other functions as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field. Two years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field.
